Skyler had his last day of soccer today. He had actually missed 3 sessions and wasn't too disappointed about it. He didn't like all the yelling and running and usually ended up crying to me that he was tired and wanted to go home. I was bummed about it because it's a great release and he loved kicking the soccer ball around at home. But Skyler doesn't like to be pushed...he likes to make the choice to do things on his own. My friend had been telling me that her son loved soccer (he had a different and crazy coach) but I figured Skyler just wasn't the soccer kind of kid. Well today we were making up the last class and I managed to get Skyler into his friend's class to see what all the hype was about this coach everyone loved. Well, it didn't take long till we were in love with him too. He has to be at least 50, has crazy and gross dreads down to his knees that he literally knots on the top of his head before class, and happens to be AMAZING with the little kids. Knowing just how to encourage them and make running down a very long field fun.(The kids were in a real soccer stadium today!) Skyler ran like a champ the whole time and had a blast. This guy was seriously fabulous. Skyler even wanted to play soccer at home, which is always a good sign! He left practice feeling good and I'm actually considering signing him up for the winter session if he can have this crazy and amazing coach. My friend sent me some of the pics she took during class. I didn't even bother bringing my camera because I had expected to be pushing him to participate, rather than sitting and chatting with the sweet moms! Always a good day when there is something Skyler conquers:)
