Random!

Nothing too much to report. Quiet weekend where we attempted to 'do something'. Which, let's face it, was not easy with all the snow and cold temps. So, we went food shopping. Yep, that was our field trip. And it took up the morning, so, mission accomplished. Saturday night I helped throw a type of baby shower at a restaurant. We were there until 11 and I was SO EXHAUSTED on Sunday. Seriously, I'm getting old. Can't even handle a late dinner. I even snuck in a nap. Pathetic. Sunday our exciting field trip was to the car wash. Yes, I know you are so jealous of our exciting weekend:)

Here are some random pics....I'm having trouble posting comments, but I'm low on the time so I'm just going with it. There are some cabin fever pics, some of Madison burying my sock in the snow, and some of Sadie remodeling our kitchen!

Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Yup, the title sums it up. I've gone crazy...literally. This is the third day we have been stuck at home. (I can't quite remember why I chose to stick around on Tuesday, but definitely regret it.) The kids have gone stir crazy....we ALL have gone crazy! But we tried to make the best of everything....tried is the key word:) So, this morning started out normal. Had breakfast. Than it all went haywire. Skyler decided he desperately needed to have a full blown crying fit about something. I can't even recall the reason, it's just unlike him. All this pent up boredom had to go somewhere. And Sadie figured, hey, why not? I'll join him! So she decided to cry hysterically for no reason. They were both crying for what seemed like forever. I decided I needed a break. Went to the bathroom. They followed me in. Crying. Sadie decided to she HAD to sit on my lap. Skyler just stood in the doorway. I know I'll miss these moments one day when they want their independence. But today? It's taking every ounce of self control not to just run! SO, I decided to take them to play in the snow. I mean, what kid doesn't like to play in the snow? Skyler loved it...had a blast. Sadie? Not so much. Apparently 10 inches of snow is too much for her and she just cried. And fell. She was constantly saying her "ow's" and "helps!". But when I show you the pics of how I bundled her, you'll understand. The poor thing couldn't really move. She did a face plant in the snow. Or had snow down her jacket. So, maybe not the best idea. But did I mention Skyler had fun? Thank goodness for a new day tomorrow:)

This is the 'bundled' version of Sadie. She didn't have boots, so she had baggies on the inside and outside of her shoes. She was definitely not happy about it, but my little invention worked and she had warm and dry feet when we came inside:)
Poor thing couldn't move. She'd stand, walk a step, and fall. Then yell, "help!". Although slightly amusing, I did feel for her:)
Here she is in the first few moments of being outside when she didn't really know what was happening. It was all downhill from here! But she looks super cute:)
Skyler just loves the snow...he'd stay out there all day.
Warming up with hot chocolate and snacks.
Desperate to keep them happy. PICNIC in front of the tv. They loved it! And hey, 10 minutes of happy kids = a happy mommy.

Winter!

So, it's been a fun couple of days just being us. Well, maybe not all fun, but definitely funny. The kids have been doing some pretty funny things that have made me laugh, a lot. Skyler had his first school conference on Monday....pretty intense for a 3 year old meeting. Is he already preparing for college? Do I really have have the word 'ignorant' stamped across my forehead? I guess I look pretty young, and let's face it, I used to look super together, and now I stroll into drop-off with some pretty funky hair-do's because I don't have time to be vain in the morning, or the night before, or really ever. So do I blame them for thinking I'm not completely with it? I guess not. But, I am....and they will soon realize it:) But ANYWAY, we have had a lot of together time and here are some pics to show you what we've been up to.
Oh, and Sadie's new tricks are grabbing toys to her chest and saying "Mine!". She also falls, and instead of crying, she just yells, "OUCH!". Thanks to Skyler for teacher her these new words:)

I'm raising myself a classy girl:) Don't you just love her outfit? She insisted I put those booties on her feet after I changed her diaper. She's cleaning the floor with the hand towel she stole from the sink.
Skyler and I spent the afternoon making brownies, which he insisted on making into the cupcakes he saw on the box. Luckily, I had all the ingredients and he did a great job. Here he is enjoying his hard work.

It was a balmy 38 degrees out yesterday and we took advantage of the warm weather. I bundled them up and we played in the yard. This is the first time Sadie was able to actually walk around and she had a blast.

Here they are digging into the toy box. We definitely need some new ones in the Spring!
I love this pic. I wish my knee wasn't in it!
Snow!

My little tom-boy....
She was 'reading' the label of the empty bubble bottle (where did all those bubbles go?!) by singing the ABC's. Wish I had a video of it....
T-Ball turned rocket launcher. Oh how he's changed....
She insisted on unzipping her jacket...over and over and over. Ahhh, she'll be a tough one!

Really? So cute....
Still loving baskets...this one happens to be clean clothes I haven't folded yet. Kept them entertained for 15 minutes!
Milestone for Skyler. First time he didn't scribble, but drew a picture of me as a little girl. I wanted to record this...included hands, legs, eyes, nose, and hair. So proud:)
SNOW!!!! We are getting tons of it...coming down like crazy. Madison is more interested in eating it than getting busy. It's deep, I feel badly for her.

Field Trip!

So, I'm sitting here downloading pics from our day. I am overhearing Michael talking to Skyler. Skyler brought up Uncle Slick, saying that he's a pretty funny guy cause he steals his nose. Michael said, "Do you know anyone else who thinks their funny but they are really not?" Skyler said, "Yes, you." ahh, out of the mouths of kiddos. I think Michael set himself up for that one:)

So yesterday was a day spent at home. We were just too tired and it was WAY too cold out to go anywhere. um, 10 degrees? We were homebound. Today we ventured off to the Museum of American History and Skyer LOVED it! He had fun looking at the exhibits, even the ones that I thought were boring. We literally had to convince him to leave. I think he was just happy to get out of the house! Than we got him a haircut...oh boy, it was a bad one. I told the guy to just take a little bit of the bangs. I think he heard, "Take off all his bangs". Good thing he's 3 and not vain enough to care. Good thing hair grows. And good thing he is just so darn cute:)

I came down from putting Sadie to sleep last night...this is how I found my boys. Um, it was only 7:30:)
Sadie's 'Museum Pose' :0)

Obviously you can't hear him, but he was rationalizing how everything was just pretend and wouldn't just start moving to run him over:) That's my little man, he thinks too darn much!
On the train exhibit they let people onto. He was waiting for it to move. Was pretty bummed when it didn't and was wondering why they even bothered putting a train there that didn't go anywhere. LOVE HIM!
Post lame hair cute. I attempted to some styling gel to spike up those little bangs and it looked pretty cute....but then again, he is such a handsome little guy:)

Things I Want to Remember

Every day they do or say something new that I always tell myself I need to remember. Things that others might not think are as funny or as special as I do, but they are pieces of what make up my children. So, recent things I want to remember are....

That Skyler has officially taught Sadie how to say 'No'. She's heard it a zillion times from everyone as she grabs for things she shouldn't, but she ran away from Skyler saying, "no no no!" It's cute now, I realize it won't be cute for very long.

That Sadie thinks it is a ton of fun to dump Madison's water dish all over multiple times a day. She has even chosen to sit in it a few times. She will literally get a look in her eyes and we race to get there first...she seems to win every time! Yes, I pick it up, but hey, it's more important that my dog does not dehydrate. Lucky for Madison, all this attention to her bowls meant that I remembered to run them through the dishwasher:)

I don't want to forget the way I walked into Skyler's room today and Sadie had sat on his lap in the bean bag chair to read a book.

Or that Sadie's new thing is to grab my hand (when Skyler is unavailable) and walk around the house holding it...it makes me melt every time.

Or that the other day I was going to the bathroom (TMI, I realize) but all of a sudden Skyler rounds the corner, pulls out his step stool, sits, and asks me if I want to rhyme. I asked what he was doing and he said keeping me company. This is what I do for him, and I almost started crying when he did it for me.

That Skyler, who is so curious about the human body and knows more about the organs than I do, asked me what bone was in his penis. I told him to ask his dad....

That we were snowed in and stuck in the house. I was dreading it wondering what we would do all day. But, Skyler kept telling me how special of a day this was and how much fun he was having.

That when I say 'I love you so much' to Skyler, he say 'I love you so much too.' Selfish to love hearing this, I know that, but I think I deserve to be a little selfish in this way:)

That Sadie calls for me by now saying, "Mommy" instead of "mama" with the cutest inflection.

That I feel extremely lucky that these are my children....

Can't Think of a Title!

Things have been fairly quiet this weekend...activity wise...but definitely not my children! They are noisy and busy and full of energy that needs a release. I think I'm going to start a count down until it gets a bit warmer and we can hit the playgrounds. There are so many mornings that we finish breakfast and I think that 20 minutes on a playground before we do anything would be perfect. No such luck unless we want to slip on ice or freeze our fingers off:) We are grateful that we have neighborhood friends with kiddos the same age that we can do spontaneous play dates with. EVERYONE is happier after those...fun for the kids, therapy sessions for the moms:)

I keep doing double takes with Skyler these days. All of a sudden he seems so tall, his feet so big, and the baby fat slowly melting off his face....it's wonderful witnessing these changes, yet at the same time, sad that he's leaving his babyhood and toddler years behind and becoming a boy. Sadie is becoming super independent and sassy. She lets me know when she's mad or didn't get her way....which is often! I see so much of myself in her....uh oh.

Here are two random pics of the kids. Being cooped up inside doing the same things every day doesn't give us many photo ops.

Sadie was bothering him here...
She gets bored and tears my house up! She snagged all of the dish towels from the drawer and scattered them everywhere.
