Pictures from Thanksgiving Weekend

Yey! They are posted...and just in the nick of time cause the kids just got up from their nap. (Yes, I made Skyler sleep because I NEEDED this time!)

Thanksgiving:)
After a full blown tantrum in the supermarket over chocolate covered pretzels, Michael decided to have Skyler make his own...it was fun!

He had just gotten in trouble for eating the chocolate, can't you tell how upset he is?!

Sadie has finally ditched the highchair and has joined the table for meals...so exciting! We are working on the table manners...
On our way to the museum!
This was Sadie's constant pose....
He was telling us he didn't want to see the dinosaurs after all....

We finally got him to pose and roar like dinosaur at the T-Rex. The deal was we could leave that room as soon as he did it!

Oops

It's been so long since I have done an entry. There has seriously been a lack of time to sit down and load up the pictures. Busy busy getting ready to go away and just plain keeping up with the kids. I didn't even get a chance to take too many pics at Thanksgiving, which was nice and quiet...perfect. I have some pics that I will put up soon from our trip to the Museum of Natural History. Skyler had picked out a 3-D puzzle of dinosaurs and became super curious. So, off we went to the museum in DC, even though it happens to be one of my least favorite ones in DC. Last time we were there it scared him and he had nightmares. Guess what...it still scares him! But no nightmares. He ran thru the dinosaur exhibit convinced that they were going to eat him. I guess it's easier to imagine the size than to actually SEE how big they are! He liked the space exhibit the best. Oh, and pushing anything with a button. Total therapy for me and my germaphobic self! Sadie loved everything. It was amazing to me that they both had tons of energy when we got home. Michael and I were ready for bed. Oh, and I think Sadie is super close to being a walker. The other day I was folding something on the couch and felt her cruising along me. I guess I wasn't really paying attention because all of a sudden Skyler yelled, "Mom, look, Sadie is walking all by herself!". Sure enough, she was clear across the room heading for her toys. I wonder how far she would have gone if I hadn't screamed and picked her up:) I will definitely try to catch up and put some pictures up tonight...

Skyler's First School Thanksgiving Feast

Skyler had his first 'School Thankgiving' today. I was originally going to keep him home for this because it's a time where Sadie gets nutty and I didn't want to take away from Skyler. But the teachers literally begged me multiple times to bring him and Michael felt he shouldn't miss it, so we went. And Sadie did have multiple breakdowns with loud screaming and crying...for some reason the teacher missed it and told me before we left that I was crazy for thinking this sweet little angel would take away from everything. Humph, whatever, I'm sure they have me pegged as a crazy mom! Anyway, the feast was cute. The teachers had a whole table set up fancy with their art projects and handprints. They had plates loaded with food that they apparently learned how to make. Skyler had been telling me that 'I didn't make it mommy, the teachers did...I just watched." They started with a circle time where the teacher went over everything they learned about Thanksgiving. I was impressed with what some of these kids remembered! I'm guessing the teachers just went over it a zillion times and the kids with amazing memories remembered everything. They also sang some Thanksgiving songs. I think Skyler was most excited about us being there (oh and the cookies)....Michael made a surprise appearance and Skyler was thrilled:)

"Did she say we have to eat turkey??" (there was no meat, he was safe!)

The Weekend

Another weekend where we took it easy and spent a lot of time at home, in our yard, and at playgrounds. It's kind of nice not to have to get onto 270! We filled the bird feeder for the hundreds of birds that apparently depend on the food we provide for them. But boy are they greedy! We have to fill that thing every other day. The fun part is that the uneaten seeds are growing plants on our grass. I haven't pulled them because I kind of want to see what happens!
Skyler is obsessed with what he wants for Hanukkah. Every commercial and catalogue is studied at great length, and he declares whether he should get that toy, Sadie should get it, or if it's not a great one. I hope we don't disappoint:) Sadie has been making leaps and bounds. She is SOOOOO determined to walk. And she tries often. She'll be cruising and then literally keep 'walking' from the couch despite the fact she still doesn't have the balance. Sometimes she actually catapults herself! It's a little scary, but confidence is definitely not her problem. She will be a very happy camper when she can be running after her brother.

Biking at the rec center
Sadie was not thrilled that she was belted into her stroller...she really wanted to play on the playground!

"Can you photoshop some hair on me??" That was literally what he was asking me....

Friday:)

Busy busy day....Today was Skyler's 'Community Shabbat' where all of the kids and their parents meet in the main synagogue. Each level of children go to the bima and sing a Shabbat song. It's kind of cute. Last time Skyler refused to go up with his class. Today we were sitting and waiting and a friend from his class flew over to Skyler and insisted on sitting with him. I was so happy to see this. Skyler went and sat with Charlie and his mom (I had Sadie so I had to stand in the aisle because she refused to sit on my lap quietly, go figure.) I watched him be silly and happy and I loved it. And this week he flew up to join his class and goofed off with his friends and got in trouble. He was happy:) Sadie also loved the songs. Afterwards, Sadie had her first official play date with the siblings of one of Skyler's friends. Her new boyfriend loved the sequins on her shirt. Now I can officially tell the dr. at her next check up that she is socialized!

Sadie's new boyfriend:)
Exhausted after a crazy morning! Was hard to wake her from her car seat.
I was cleaning up from lunch and went to get her...this is what I found...

Oh Boy...

It's the end of the day and I'm exhausted! I'm whining, definitely, but I feel like my two minutes of whining has been earned. The day is non-stop from the moment I open my eyes and peak at the monitor hoping they are both soundly asleep, but knowing at least one of them will be raring to go before I am:) And I never know what I'm going to find. Will Skyler wake with a smile and the urge to be cooperative? Or will he be ready to shoot down everything I say with tears or whining. Is Sadie up wayyyy before she should be and I know she'll be a cranky face by 9, exactly when we have to run out to get Skyler to school, so only a car nap is possible? Whatever they throw my way, I try my hardest to work with it. Today, Skyler was in the whiny sort of mood...and he whined about EVERYTHING I did or offered to do. Seriously?? Do we HAVE to whine about ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING?? Apparently. But I have to say he was a fabulous big brother today, minus the occasional pushes or jabs when he thought I wasn't looking. Sadie is actually the first one to get annoyed with him. Sadie had a day where she was testing her skills. Stairs? no problem.... pulling up on furniture that isn't sturdy? no problem... teaching me multitasking? yes:) How fast can I wash Skyler's hands, empty the containers, and catch Sadie before she falls down the steps? But I have to say, I love all this craziness and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Sadie pulling herself up on her walker. I realize that this shouldn't be a big deal for a 14 month old, but it's pretty darn momentous for our baby girl.
And away she goes! Skyler was climbing with her:) (excuse his pants falling down)

I don't know why but I love this picture!
She made it to the top! The first of a zillion trips today:)

Tuesday

There are no pictures from today. It was rainy all day long.....And I so didn't feel like going out today. Sadie had her first physical therapy appointment. She wasn't really happy with a stranger touching her so the actual therapy part didn't last long. But we were given an exercise she loves....standing against the wall for balance. She thought it was great! Unfortunately, she thought it was funny when her head kept banging against it....but she was happy! Hmmm, another one to remember:) We were able to escape for a little to our friend's house (Jenn, Jackson, and Addie). It was so nice to get OUT...which was right around the corner. The kids played together and it was really cute to see Addie and Sadie 'hanging out'. We have been waiting for this moment since Addie was born and I was pregnant. It's kind of neat seeing all of our kids playing. But I have to say that Gorrie number 3 will have to join the crowd since I definitely won't be having a third! I feel lucky to have good friends in the neighborhood. Hopefully tomorrow will be a sunny and playground kind of day.

The Weekend....

I have to catch up from this weekend! It was busy...but a 'fun busy'. I love love love having my parents here....even when we drive each other crazy. It's still such a form of comfort for me, and has become one for my kids as well. I'm guessing it's because we lived with them last winter and they were our stability at a crazy time. Anyway, this weekend we were outside in the yard, on playgrounds, and just plain hanging around. I was able to get things done that I have been meaning to do forever. One was cleaning out my closet and drawers. I found clothes from high school, from dating, and of course from work. It all had to go....they hadn't been worn in a very very very long time. This of course equaled 5 large trash bags of clothing. Michael was shocked when he came home and saw my closet practically empty. I was hording....Hard to see it go...but it means that I get to go shopping! I wish I could be more excited about that. I'm working on it:) I also was able to catch up with a someone I knew from Dickinson, which was a lot of fun. It's always great to have more friendships in the area. Helps keep me sane. Now we are getting back to reality....Michael is back:) Now just a count down for our trip to Florida...

Sadie loved going through her Nana's purse...
Skyler playing with his first early hanukkah present...a remote control monster truck.

Sadie cheered him on!

At the playground. Sadie can't stand being in her stroller. The problem is that she can't walk yet! But she's really close....took her first steps this weekend. I'm literally praying on an hourly basis that this happens soon. There's only so many hours in a day that I can walk hunched over her...but I love her and will do what I have to do to get her to WALK!!!!!!!!

Skyler was playing hide-and-go-seek with some girls on the playground. The problem was that he kept hiding in the same place....a see thru tunnel. But it was definitely cute to watch:)

Another day at another playground...this one is his beloved Castle playground.

I love her tutu and sneakers. So fem:)
She insists on walking thru the playground...now if only our backs would cooperate!
I love these moments with my kids....makes all the backaches and heartaches worth it:)

Judgemental at 1....oh boy:)
