Ah, it's good to be back! I just recently downloaded all of my summer pictures...that's crazy...life has been crazy! The move completely consumed me and my camera got packed in a bag and just didn't come out until recently. So, let's back track. And start at the beginning of the Summer Of Jax:)
The move. I don't think there is one person I met that didn't know how much I disliked Maryland. The state itself was fine. Lots of pretty areas, things to do, fun activities for the kids. But it just never sat well with me. I always had the feeling like I had to get out of there, that it was temporary like college, and the longer we stayed, the more anxious and depressed I became. I disliked the ridiculous amounts of traffic and people in one area. It wasn't like a city where you expect that kind of population. It was just annoying. Annoying to go to the supermarket, and g-d forbid you chose to go after 4. A 5 minute trip took almost 30 minutes at rush hour. The houses that kept popping up all around us, making the value of our own go down. The RIDICULOUS traffic...all.the.time. Even at 10 at night. Every trip was just a plain nightmare. The graffiti. The interesting neighbors. The hot hot summers, and cold but snowless winters (I missed the good one). The gnats in the spring and summer, wasps in the Fall. I just struggled to find anything about the state redeeming. So, when we FINALLY found out we were moving to Jacksonville? A place I had never been but was crossing my fingers that it was a good move? I was ECSTATIC! THRILLED! I really needed it. I needed to move on. We became completely consumed with selling our house, and all of the other craziness that goes with it. I entered a very selfish world where only my family was my focus. Amazingly, we paid someone, I mean, someone bought our house, we found a great one in Fl, and we became semi-homeless for a month. Crazy. That's the only word to describe myself and my summer.
Now, I have to say, that although I disliked living in Maryland, I made the most amazing friends. They are warm, supportive, funny, and just plain fabulous. Hit some major life milestones with these ladies and I miss them all the time. They are what gave my MD years a huge lift and how I survived.
Right before we took the kiddos up to NJ before the movers, I snagged some pics of their rooms in the house I brought them home to. Heck, it was the house I had Sadie IN! I should have taken a pic of that room:) This was the home we had our first dog. The home that I plonked Skyler's car seat down and stared at this little newborn wondering what to do with him. The home where they both took their first steps, had tons of play dates, tons of sick days, tons of laughs, happiness, and growing.
We try to look for name plates every where we go. Haven't found 1 for Sadie yet!
Skyler's baby room that eventually became Sadies. Tiny Tiny Tiny, but worked:)
Once the guest room, but then became Skyler's big boy room.
The yard between our house and Jaime and Mike's. Best neighbors ever. Lots of runs through here to burn off energy, even in dead winter.
Those trees started so small. The one on the left I watched grow as I nursed the kids. It started below the second floor window and was almost as tall as our house when we left.
GOOD BYE CLARKSBURG!!!
And, the first leg of the move begins. All the things we would need for over a month stuffed into our car:)
